Sausalito Winterfest Jingle Bells 5K Run on December 11 to benefit Dipsea Kidz program

Family members of all ages are invited to participate in the Third Annual Jingle Bells 5K and Kids Fun Run on Sunday, December, 11, starting at 8:30 a.m. along a picturesque waterfront course in Sausalito.

The event, which includes a post-race brunch, is co-sponsored by the Dipsea Race Foundation and the Sausalito On The Waterfront Foundation to benefit the Dipsea Kidz program. Eve Pell, the 1989 winner of the Dipsea Race and a member of the Dipsea Hall of Fame, is scheduled to be the official race starter for Jingle Bells Run III.

Dipsea Kidz is a youth development program serving at-risk kids in Marin County through a structured, twice-weekly afterschool physical fitness, mentoring, nutritional and educational program. Using the challenge of training for and completing cross-country runs of increasing distance, our middle school participants learn confidence, discipline, goal setting, and resiliency, all while making friends, improving their health, and gaining an appreciation of our community’s special beauty.

Entry fee for the Jingle Bells 5K is $40 for adults and $25 for children under 16 for the 5K race. A $5 donation is requested for children 7 & under participating in the Kidz Fun Run, which starts at 9:20 a.m. Runners in the 5K will receive a free commemorative T-shirt and free admission to the Sausalito Lions Club post-race pancake breakfast in the Sausalito Winterfest Tent.

Race-day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. Races will start and finish on Humboldt Avenue near the Spinnaker Restaurant on the waterfront. The flat downtown course will feature magnificent views of Mt. Tamalpais, Angel Island, San Francisco Bay and the San Francisco city skyline.
