Help Maintain the Dipsea Trail!
Project Description: Thank you joining us out on the trails and for being such ambassadors of the Dipsea Trail! Your group will be making an important contribution to the maintenance of the Dipsea Trail and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area as a whole. We will be working on trail maintenance and enhancement projects along the Dipsea, in preparation for the Dipsea Race, as well as for our community's general use and enjoyment. There are a few areas along the trail that need work. Each day we will focus on a different area. We will begin each workday with a hike to the work site. We will also give a brief introduction to our Parks and Trails Forever, as well as an overview of our projects and associated instructions. Then we'll gather our tools and get started. Our projects will include cutting back encroaching vegetation, clearing drainage systems, repairing tread (grading, shoveling and fill), and trash removal. We will provide all the tools and training, and the project will include a range of tasks so that people of all skill and strength levels can work together. Snacks and water will be provided and we'll plan for breaks mid-morning and early afternoon. Please bring your own lunch. It will be a fun and rewarding day, not to mention a fantastic way to enjoy our Parks!

Trails Forever: Your work will also support our new Trails Forever Initiative. Trails Forever is a new park-wide initiative, sponsored by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in partnership with the National Park Service and Presidio Trust, to revitalize, enhance, and improve the many trails that make it possible to experience our parks' natural and cultural resources. Through Trails Forever we plan to improve major trailheads, restore existing trails and overlooks, establish new trails and overlooks to ease access to special park features, install new and improved signage and reroute trails near fragile native habitats. We will also provide improved connections to other important regional trail systems and public transportation and publish new trail guides and maps. Your trail stewardship efforts make a critical contribution to our ability to ensure our trails and the Park are accessible to everyone today and into the future.
